Affiliate marketing is new to some and old to others. For many people affiliate marketing is a new phenomenon but there are those who have been making a full-time living from it for years. But the new affiliates have to face some fictitious storys when they get started, which is exactly what we will be looking into below.

A big wishful myth is that there is a perfect affiliate program out there. When the real fact is that you should be ready to experiment with various affiliate programs. You can stay loyal to one affiliate program but it will decrease your income potential. One affiliate program can’t cut it because they can’t provide you with the variety of offers that you will need to test the market with. Finding winning campaigns isn’t very frustrating once you are a member of multiple program and have access to lots of campaigns to test. Getting banned from a network, for whatever reason, is a common occurrence and you need a safety in place in case it happens to you, your safety will come from the money that you will continue to receive from other programs. Testing these different affiliate programs will give allow you to easily decide which ones would be a good fit for you. Even though there are affiliate programs that have stood the test of time and have positive reviews from many affiliate marketers, it’s just wise to do your own testing. Some merchants are shady and will skim conversions or not pay at all so do a background check before you decide to send traffic their way. Independent programs are good because you may come across something that everyone else isn’t promoting or you can choose a large affiliate network. The great thing is that once you are making a significant amount of sales you can negotiate payouts and other perks, as well.

The myth of saturation is so prevalent among affiliates that it scares me to think about it. There is nothing called ‘marketing saturation’ in the affiliate marketing world. A so called saturated market is usually to easiest ones to get rich in. Marketing is about communicating; so of course, if you are not good at communicating then maybe you should fear saturation. There is an unlimited amount of products to sell and hundreds of millions of people to sell them to. Play your cards right and you will see sales coming in from every part of the globe. So don’t let the word ‘saturation’ scare you from achieving success.

Banners are a thing of the past, so do all of your visitors a favor and leave them there. I don’t know how this myth has survived but people are still using flashing banners. Your site is not a fireworks show so ditch the idea of flashing lights everywhere and attract your visitor’s attention to things that count. Skip the banners, instead put all of your efforts into answering your searcher’s/visitor’s questions and pointing towards something that can alleviate their suffering.
